Due to the covid-19 situation, Nelson Women's and Children's Refuge will not be seeing clients face to face until further notice.
Please call our crisis line number on 0800 16 33 44 or your advocate's mobile number to speak to a staff member. You can call the crisis line number with no credit. It will continue to run 24/7 during this time. All staff and volunteers will carry on business as usual.
If you have an appointment or meeting booked already you will be contacted to arrange a phone or online option.
We will be checking in with all the people we are working with but please reach out if you need to speak to somebody sooner. We know this is a stressful time so please let us know if you need our support. Call 111 if it is an emergency.

If you need to contact any of our tenants please do so by phone, email or social media in the first instance. if you need to see them, ensure you are well before you come and practice social-distancing. Civil Defence, Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council
Food or essential supplies. Civil Defence, Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council have set up a hotline for people with urgent welfare needs. If someone has an urgent need for food or essential supplies, then they can call their local Council:

People will then be directed to the appropriate service to provide assistance. The support service is for people who do not have friends, family or neighbours that can provide assistance. Remember, if people are able to help those in need, then please make sure you maintain 2-metre physical distance, wash your hands, and do not offer assistance if you are unwell.
If people have an urgent need for accommodation, they can call:
